Hadley is F-I-V-E!

My eyes are even getting teary just typing this out, but our little (but not-so-little-anymore) first-born is really FIVE years old...FIVE...like going to kindergarten next year... *sniffle*  but Haddy told me I can't cry this year...not until she's six! I just can't believe it! Where has the time gone?

Hadley is now 42 and 3/4" tall and weighs 37 pounds.  She wears size 5-6 clothes and size 10-11 shoes.  At her well-visit this time, she took her eye test (no problems!) and received a booster for her MMRV.

Hadley LOVES school and from what I can tell is a really great friend to her classmates and a good helper to her teachers (we've never heard anything otherwise!)!  She continues to push every limit possible at home, but I guess we'll take it in exchange for super-good choices at school!  She loves everything Paw Patrol and is really a great big sister to Carlie.  They truly are BFFs (and they fight like them, too!).

Hadley still enjoys dance (though she's not sure yet if she'd like to continue next year or not, we will see) and is looking forward to swim lessons and soccer in the spring.  Her favorite foods are pizza, waffles, and quesadillas & she still wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up.  She also says she's going to marry Carlie and they're going to live together with 100 cats and dogs! :)

Whatever she does, wherever her dreams take her, we know that it will be with spunk, spirit, and joy!  Happy birthday, Hadley! Mommy & Daddy love you to the moon and back!

Carlie is Three and a Half!

Time is just flying by at a crazy pace...I meant to do a quarter-year update on Carlie, but I don't know where the time went! Our baby girl is definitely not a baby anymore! Carlie is now THREE AND A HALF!

Overall, Carlie is a very sweet little girl who loves to sing and get lost in her imaginative play. She loves, loves, loves to have her sister as a playmate, but she also has no problems playing alone with her babies, kitchen, magnet blocks, dollhouse, or Paw Patrol characters. Carlie also enjoys playing all sorts of games...Go Fish, Hungry, Hungry Hippos, Snail's Pace Race, Memory, Bingo, etc.

Carlie now recognizes almost all of her capital and lower-case letters, as well as all numbers 0-12. She can also count to 30, but has a tendency to skip over 16 most of the time! She's also getting really good at using the /f/ sound at the beginning of her words, which was one that she has been struggling with, so we are really proud at how hard she is working at it!

Despite trying probably 3 more times since our last update, Carlie is still not potty trained. She has shown many times over that she has complete control of the functions, but for whatever reason, she just has this crazy fear of letting it go on the potty. We've just decided to back off for a while again see what happens in another couple of months.

Right now, Carlie is about 38" tall and weighs about 32 pounds! She wears size 7-8 shoes & mostly 4T clothing. She has become a bit opinionated of her clothing now & will insist upon dresses and skirts going down past her knees or she will. not. wear. them! It makes dressing her for school & getting out the door a challenge sometimes!

Carlie loves going to preschool (and lunch bunch!) & has definitely been showing signs of growth in the two months since she's started. Although still shy, she definitely doesn't take as long to open up & seems to be slowly making friends with other kids in her class. She also LOVES dance class & I love to watch the bond grow as Haddy takes Carlie under her wing in dance class and really looks out for her.  It warms my heart so much.  I can't wait to see what the next months will bring!

Carlie is 2.5!

A little over a week ago, our little Carlie-bug (who is really not so little anymore) officially became 2-and-a-half years old! Carlie continues to grow and change, it seems, right before our eyes. 90% of the time, she is our laid-back, go-with-the-flow little girl, but don't be mistaken; she will absolutely let you know when something upsets her!

Right now, Carlie is just moving in to size 3T clothing. She still wears size 4 diapers, size 6 shoes, and weighs about 28 pounds (which I actually think is less than she weighed at the last update, but she's definitely growing UP and thinning out)! She is currently around 36" tall!

Carlie has become a singer and dancer, as of late. I would say that her current favorite pastime is pretending she's a princess (or a queen, as the case may be). If "Let it Go" comes on, she must transform into Elsa (complete with dress!) and sing along while climbing North Mountain (or in our case, the stairs). Likewise, once the Anna dress is put on, Carlie will pester her sister until she agrees to reenact "Do You Want To Build a Snowman" through the door...if Haddy isn't available, she will run around shouting, "It's coronation day!" and break out into "For the First Time in Forever!"

Carlie will even spell her own name, but then when you ask her what the letters spell, she will look down to verify which princess dress she's wearing & then say that name instead of her own...or if you call her name, "Carlie - can you come here a minute?" she responds, "NO! I ELSA!" She amazes us daily with her pretend play - she REALLY gets into it! Her imaginative play has even gotten her into trouble, as one time she said she was pretending to eat Hadley, but REALLY bit her - right on the BUTT! And another time, she was brought to tears because Haddy told her that she drank all of Carlie's pretend chocolate milk in her cup!

Carlie knows all of her colors and most of her shapes. She can count to 12 or 13 (depending on the day) and she can sing the whole alphabet! She is beginning to recognize a few letters (C, A, P, T, H, O, B, D, G), as well! Carlie can also tell you her full name, but she needs to be reminded sometimes that she is "Bella Scholl" (for her middle name) instead of "Becca Scholl" (Haddy's). She loves to learn and is very excited about going to school next year like her big sister!

Carlie's Favorite Things
cats (nope, not 'rawr-rawrs' anymore), especially her Daisy cat, whom she carries EVERYWHERE
pretend-play
dancing
singing
doing puzzles
reading stories (being read to and looking at books on her own)
having her hair done in two pigtail braids (Anna braids, as she calls them)
mac and cheese & ham (her favorite meal)
dance class (she loves to dance with her Daisy cat and pretend that she is Miss Kristy, teaching her kitty to dance)
squeezy-fruit (fruit puree pouches)

Carlie is TWO!

Our sweet, little Carlie is really two years old! I know I say this with each update, but it just never seems possible that so much time has passed in our lives! There really is SO much truth to what they say that kids just grow up so fast!

At her two-year well visit, Carlie was awesome!  She climbed right up on the big kid scale and only cried at the very end for her shot.  She weighed 27 pounds and measured 33.75" with a head circumference of 19", which put her in the 50th, 50th, and 75th percentiles, respectively (right in line with what she has been all along).  If we can go by the algorithm to predict their final adult height, Carlie could end up being about 5'6"!  That's pretty good for her genes!

Carlie is really a mover and a shaker these days!  She can be very mischievous and is into just about everything (which I'm sure, at least in part, is due to attempting to keep up with her sister!), but she is also a little lovey who loves to snuggle and cuddle and rock in the chair in her room at the end of the day.  She has been giving us some issues when it comes time for going to sleep, though, which is a new development with her!  Carlie still sleeps great, but she has learned some tricks from Haddy about how to avoid the dreaded bedtime!  She's also shown her true colors a few times with some epic tantrums - luckily they're still few and far between!

Currently, Carlie wears size 4 diapers, size 5 shoes, & size 2t clothes.  She loves to kick, throw, and catch balls and balloons.  She loves to go to the playground to swing on the swings and climb up the slides (probably more than sliding down them!)!  Carlie loves to go on stroller walks in the "pink stroller" and pick fuzzy dandelions to pull apart!  Now that the weather is warming up, Carlie can't get enough of playing at the water table and in the sprinkler with Haddy.

Carlie went to a practice dance class with Haddy!

But more than anything, Carlie loves cats (or rawr-rawrs)!  She even had two kitty birthday cakes to celebrate!
