Haddy-isms & Carlie-isms

It's been a while since I've updated with the hilariously funny things that our girls have done and said over the past few months... ENJOY!

Carlie-isms

Me (while driving): I can't safely look back there and at the road
Carlie: Well, you could if you had two faces!

"I'm am" (as in, "I'm am pretending to be a cat," or "I'm am three years old")

After hearing a commercial on the TV: "Can you put 'Push it Real Good!' on my iPod?

"How in the whole wide world did that get in my ear?"

"You know why I don't like motorcycles? They're stinky & loud, that's why I don't like motorcycles!"

"I saw an echo on the TV; it was green."

After watching Daddy take Hadley out of the car through the window a 'la Daisy Duke: "Daddy! Can you lift me out the window like Donald Duke, too?"

Me: You really should start using the potty, Carlie.  You don't want to be the odd man out at preschool!
Carlie: I'm not a man! I'm a yay-dee (lady!)!

Carlie: I love you $8 to the moon and back! (this has always been her response, ever since I started asking '"how much" do you love me?')
Me: How much do you love Daddy?
Carlie: 101.1 MoreFM to the moon and back (I think we've been listening to the Christmas station on the radio a bit too much!)

That time Carlie cried for half an hour because Hadley drank all of her pretend chocolate milk!

Instead of 'with angelic hosts proclaim,' the girls sing, 'with the jelly lemonade!'

Haddy-isms

"Guess what? When I woke up, my eyes were already open!"

"Carlie, you're so freaking silly!"

While discussing how Riley felt while experiencing all of the different emotions on 'Inside Out': "Anger made Riley angry, Disgust made her disgusted, Joy made Riley happy, Sadness made her sad, and Fear made her fearious."

After teaching Hadley the meaning of the saying, "beating the dead horse,": Mommy.... Carlie won't leave me alone, she's eating the dead horse!

**fart** "yes, that really came out of my sweet little tushie!"

"God has the power!"

Me: UGH! This blanket needs to be washed, it smells like vomit!
Haddy (while handing the blanket to her daddy to be washed): Daddy, Mommy said this blanket needs to be washed; it smells like an omelet!

While explaining selfies to Carlie, Hadley told her that they're called 'selfies' because you take them on a self-phone.

Instead of 'with angelic hosts proclaim,' the girls sing, 'with the jelly lemonade!'

Hadley is 2 and a half!

Earlier this week, our big 2-year-old celebrated her half birthday! Hadley continues to amaze us as we watch her grow, learn, and change on a daily basis! It is such a joy to watch her little mind make sense of the world and piece together what everything around her means! She is really beginning to do more pretend play and use her imagination. Hadley also has (slowly) started to appreciate messy sensory play activities that she was once afraid of (Carlie has never seemed to have this same fear), such as finger painting or shaving cream. Hadley is definitely becoming a little word-nerd like her Mama, too! She knows all of her capital letters and is starting to learn the lower-case letters now (thank you, Super Why!). She can even proudly tell you the sounds of half of the letters in the alphabet.

Hadley now weighs about 27 pounds and is *almost* three feet tall. She is hovering between 2T and 3T clothes, she wears a size 6-7 shoe (depending on the brand) and she's still in a size 4 diaper (with no apparent interest in ditching the diapers anytime soon! Boo!).

Right now, Hadley's favorite things are:
  • Doc McStuffins
  • Super Why
  • Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood
  • anything purple
  • singing
  • playing on the playground
  • giving check-ups (usually to Carlie, who may or may not be a willing patient)
  • writing her letter H on everything ("down, down, across!" Look! I made a H!")
  • peanut butter and jelly or tuna fish sandwiches
  • piggyback rides
  • stickers
  • the alphabet
  • ice pops (which she calls lollipops)
  • playing with Carlie (though at times, she acts like she could take her or leave her, but we know she'd be lost with out her!)
  • playing at the water & sand tables

Haddy-isms:
  • Orn-gin (Daddy's favorite color)
  • I'm Dr. Scholl & these are my friends, I'm going to give you a checkup (as she puts on her doctor's coat and stethoscope)
  • Do you want to watch Carlie pick her nose? And I pick my nose, too! (to Miss Erin and the other moms at library story time)
  • Good Morning, Carlie! What a good nappy-doo, Honey Bunchy! (When we go in when Carlie wakes up from her nap)
  • Carlie, do you want to play 'boochy-boochy'? (as she squeezes Carlie's cheeks)

Haddy-isms (28 months)

Hadley has become quite the chatty-Haddy lately, so I wanted to do a quick update with all of the funny and cute things that she says now at 28 months.
  • "Mommy, you're my favorite girl in the neighborhood!" (as well as, "Daddy, you're my favorite girl in the neighborhood!")
  • "Mommy, you're my sweet baboo!"
  • While changing Carlie's diaper, she was rolling all over the ottoman.  Hadley came over and put her hands on either side of Carlie so she couldn't roll and told me she was "keeping Carlie safe."
  • "Yay, Car-Car! You're doing so great!"
  • "I is awesome and Carlie is 'dorable!"
  • "Mommy, I will kiss your boo-boo."
  • Singing Soft Kitty
  • Dancing to Gangnam Style (and insisting that every picture of a man with dark glasses on is Psy, including Keanu Reeves on the cover of the Matrix DVD!)
  • I told Gregg that I thought I felt a draft in his office, Hadley came in and said, "Mommy, you silly, there's no giraffe here!"
  • "Actually," For example, "This is actually my kitty, Car-Car!"
